Newest Rose District development breaks ground

The north end of the Rose District will soon be transformed by a four-story, $18 million mixed use development at 305 N. Main St.

At 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, the City of Broken Arrow, Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation (EDC), and Milestone Capital LLC will officially break ground on the four-story building that will eventually have 31,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor and approximately 90 apartments on the three levels of above.

First announced last year, the project was designed by Cyntergy Architecture + Engineering, and Cowen Construction will oversee its construction. The project will cost nearly $20 million, financed through Milestone, a company specifically created for this development and future Rose District projects.

“This is a huge economic development endeavor for our Rose District and community,” said City Manager Michael Spurgeon. “Once complete, this mixed use project will bring additional density to the downtown area, which is important for increasing daytime traffic to sustain support of our Rose District businesses. The Milestone project is a huge success for our on-going 3P (public-private partnership) initiatives and reaffirms our commitment to making Broken Arrow a wonderful place to live, work and play.”

About the property

The site for the development was formerly the First Assembly of God Church, then became First Baptist Church in 2002. The building was shuttered in 2006 and remained mostly vacant for more than 10 years. Working with the EDC, the City of Broken Arrow purchased the property in February 2016 and had it demolished that summer.
