TULSA, Okla. – Characterized as the “hardest working man in show business,” Jay Leno is bringing his signature side-splitting humor to The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa on April 5.
Tickets start at $59 and go on sale Feb. 1.
Leno is best known for his late night television ratings domination for more than two decades hosting “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” After taking over for Johnny Carson in May 1992, Leno racked up numerous awards, including an Emmy for “Outstanding Comedy, Variety or Music Series” as well as TV Guide Awards’ “Favorite Late Night Show” that was determined by voting viewers.
Leno was recently inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and his accolades include the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2014, the Hasty Pudding Award at Harvard University and an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, Emerson College. He’s also received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and has been invited to have his papers installed in the Library of Congress.
Today, Leno produces and stars in his newest entertainment success, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” which airs on CNBC. He’s earned an Emmy Award and two additional nominations for Outstanding Special Class-Short-Format Nonfiction Programs. His passion for cars has also fueled him to set several land speed records and to become the first person to drive the pace car of all major NASCAR events.
Leno loves a live audience, and he’s brought more than 100 comedy performances a year in nightclubs, theaters and stadiums, including during his long Tonight Show hosting. In addition to performing in Las Vegas and on college campuses, Leno is a well-known international traveler, entertaining for troops in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Italy, to name a few.
In 2004, Leno penned the children’s book “If Roast Beef Could Fly,” and it immediately became a New York Times Bestseller. He also launched another children’s book, “How to be the Funniest Kid in Your Class,” with similar success.
Leno is a longtime master of ceremonies for a number of benefit performances, including shows for those whose lives were devastated by the 9/11 tragedy, the tsunami in Thailand, hurricanes in the gulf and the severe economic downturn in Detroit. He also leads the annual Love Ride in California to benefit humanitarian organizations serving people with autism and muscular dystrophy, among others.
