Gerald Duane Cantrell was born May 11, 1936 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Park Hiram and Opal Bessie (Perdue) Cantrell. He died Wednesday, October 5, 2016, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years. Duane graduated from Morris High School in Morris, Oklahoma and then went on to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern State University. He was married January 29, 1966, in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Linda Sue (Lewis) Cantrell. Duane spent most of his working life in education as Principal of Wilson Elementary in Collinsville, where he retired from in May of 2006 after 42 years. He attended Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle, where he was a member for over 50 years. Duane was also a member of the Lion’s Club and the Oklahoma Association of Elementary School Principals. He had a variety of pastimes and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved watching basketball, football, and baseball no matter what teams were playing.

Funeral Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle with Reverend Charles A. Modrell officiating. Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2016 at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Tulsa. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Duane’s memory to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, Georgia 30047.
