10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – The Cherokee Heritage Center hosts a flat reed basket class at the Ho Chee Nee Chapel, located at 21192 S. Keeler Drive in Park Hill. 7 p.m. – The Cherokee Nation hosts its annual Volunteer Firefighters Ceremony at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. The tribe recognizes five individuals and two departments as the “Volunteer Firefighter of the Year” and “Volunteer Fire Department of the Year,” and also distributes checks to volunteer fire departments in the tribe’s jurisdiction. Last year, the Cherokee Nation gave $458,500 to 131 volunteer and rural fire departments.
