Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma Names Molly Jarvis The 2017 Matt Burletow Award Recipient
On Thursday June 15th at The Next Big Thing, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma will be presenting the Matt Burletow Award – for Outstanding Service to BBBSOK
Tulsa, OK – In 2017 Big Brothers Big Sisters 
of Oklahoma will be presenting, Molly Jarvis with the Matt Burtelow Memorial Award, established June 2000. Its purpose is to honor an individual whose contributions of time, energy, and resources have promoted the idea of adult-child mentoring in a significant way. The award is named for Matt Burtelow who served as an exemplary Big Brother volunteer from 1994 until his untimely death in January 1999.
“In the 4 years I have been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma, Molly Jarvis has stood out as a pillar of the organization. Her commitment to both the Tulsa Resource Board and state Governing Board has been surpassed only by her devotion to being a Big Sister. Burtelow Award winners are selected based on their achievements as “Bigs”, Molly surpasses even those high standards by giving her time to raise the resources needed to insure every child that wants a mentor, has one,” said Tulsa Board Chair Ryan McDaniel.
Molly is honored to accept the award and issued this statement: “My involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters began 25 years ago and I cannot imagine my life now without this organization and some role within it as a Big or volunteer. I am honored to receive the Matt Burtelow Award and want to thank my family and friends who have supported my participation with the organization. The experiences that I’ve had and continue to have with my little sister reinforce the mission of the organization to develop strong and enduring relationships that change lives forever. Our sisterhood is 23 years strong and we continue to learn from and support each other. I encourage anyone who is thinking about a mentorship role to go for it. You, too, will forever be changed.”
