OKLAHOMA CITY(July 6, 2015) – The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is seeking applicants for 2015-2016, 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) projects. The grant process is now open for schools and community organizations.
21st CCLC programs provide hands-on learning opportunities during out-of-school time for students in schools that need extra attention due to high poverty or low performance. Programs offer enrichment activities in different academic fields that complement classroom lessons and meet state and local standards. They often provide an opportunity for career exploration, mentoring and character education in partnership outside organizations.
Applicants must propose to serve students who attend a school site that is eligible for designation as a Title I schoolwide program — at least 40 percent of the students must qualify to receive free- or reduced-priced meals through the National School Lunch Program.
Community-based and other non-school organizations are encouraged to apply. A partnership with a local school district is required to be eligible. Local Education Agency (LEA) applicants must demonstrate partnerships with community-based organizations.
