What began as a single show tribute at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 has blossomed into a full-fledged collaboration of a diverse group of artists that interpret Jimi Hendrix’s legendary songs. The Experience Hendrix Tour offers fans a rare opportunity to see many highly regarded players like Billy Cox and guitar wizard Joe Satriani, to name a few.
Hitting the road with the tour is Billy Cox, bassist for both Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Cox has been the backbone of the tour since its inception, providing a spiritual connection between the past and present.
Fifteen-time Grammy Award nominee Joe Satriani is notable for being the biggest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time. Since releasing his 1987 solo album, “Surfing with the Alien,” he’s worked with Mick Jagger, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult and the fabled Spinal Tap.
Other artists who have joined the Experience Hendrix Tour include Taj Mahal, blues guitarist Jonny Lang, the legendary Eric Johnson, Dweezil Zappa, drummer and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chris Layton of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Doyle Bramhall II, Dug Pinnick from King’s X, Todd Park Mohr from Big Head Todd, Kenny Aronoff, Slide Brothers, Henri Brown, Kevin McCormick and Mato Nanji of Indigenous.
