Cherokee Nation Early Childhood Unit accepting applications
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Cherokee Nation’s Head Start programs are accepting applications for infants through pre-school for the upcoming academic school year.
The Cherokee Nation’s Early Childhood Unit is comprised of Head Start and Early Head Start, child development programs that focus on social development, kindergarten readiness, motor skills and incorporates Cherokee culture and language.
Cherokee Nation Early Childhood Unit reserves at least 10 percent of its available slots for children with special needs.
Applications are available at any of the programs’ 17 locations or mailed by request from the Early Childhood Unit office in Tahlequah. Completed applications are to be mailed back to the Tahlequah office, PO Box 948, Tahlequah, OK 74465.
Applications remain in the system for one year. They are accepted year round. Other documents requested include a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood card, immunization records, a birth certificate and current verification of income. Income guidelines apply.
