Broken Arrow celebrates U.S. Mayor’s Livability Award
07/13/2018 – The City of Broken Arrow will hold a reception to celebrate winning the 2018 City Livability Award from the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The reception, which is open to the public, will be from 4-5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, in the atrium of the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center, 701 S. Main St.
Rick Padgett, Public Sector Manager for Waste Management in the Texas/Oklahoma market area will attend and present the City Livability Award.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors recognized Broken Arrow Mayor Craig Thurmond during the group’s 86th annual meeting last month in Boston for his leadership in developing and implementing programs that improve the quality of life in America’s cities. This year’s winning cities were selected by former mayors from a pool of over 150 applicants.

This year’s first place winners were Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn for a local program focused on teens and violence reduction, as well as Thurmond for the redevelopment and revitalization of Broken Arrow’s Rose District.
