Cherokee Nation Businesses provides program with diapers, formula and other supplies
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Employees at Cherokee Nation Businesses are contributing essential supplies to support Cherokee Nation Indian Child Welfare in serving the needs of Cherokee children and families.
CNB employees delivered diapers, formula, bottles and clothes, along with toys, strollers, furniture and a car seat, to be used within the foster program.
“We are currently responsible for the complete needs of more than 70 children,” said Nikki Baker Limore, executive director of Cherokee Nation Indian Child Welfare. “Wonderful donations such as this make it easier for us to fulfill those needs.”
In August, Indian Child Welfare was involved with more than 1,800 cases nationwide.
Limore describes the more than 700 donated items as vital supplies and equipment that will be used often.
The recent donation is a result of an employee-driven item drive geared toward fulfilling ICW’s specific needs. The supply drive, which lasted throughout September and allowed employee volunteers to donate both new and used items, was part of CNB’s Community Impact Team initiative.
“Our Community Impact Team is dedicated to supporting our local communities and to providing for those in need,” said Travis Owens, director of cultural tourism and community relations for Cherokee Nation Businesses. “This donation is an excellent example of how our employee volunteers, their incomparable efforts and their unwavering commitment to civic responsibility serve an integral role in CNB’s effort to remain a true community partner.”
The company’s Community Impact Team helps promote volunteerism and community engagement among employees. It consists of employees throughout CNB and Cherokee Nation Entertainment properties who volunteer for a variety of outreach assignments to assist and support local communities.
