The successful musical is now hosting a casting call to support its short film.
Open auditions will take place on Aug. 13-14 from 2-4 p.m. in the Osiyo room at the Cherokee Nation Tribal Complex in Tahlequah. You may secure a specific audition time by sending your headshot and resume to casting@hollyricefilms.com. Filming will take place Sept. 18-20.
The musical was written by Nashville-based, award-winning songwriter and recording artist Becky Hobbs and playwright Nick Sweet.
Hobbs is a Cherokee citizen and Bartlesville native who is a direct descendant of Nancy Ward. As a recording/performing artist, she has performed in more than 40 countries and has had over 20 chart records. Her songs have been recorded by Alabama, Conway Twitty, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris, Glen Campbell, Wanda Jackson, John Anderson, Helen Reddy, Shirley Bassey and more. Hobbs was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame on Oct. 16, 2015.
