06/26/2020 – Construction on the Hillside Drive retaining wall replacement project will begin in late July.
Torrential rains in May 2019 damaged the integrity of the wall. Its movement caused the street below the wall to buckle. A portion of Hillside Drive, located between Albany Street and Hillside Drive, has been closed since last spring’s rains.
The Broken Arrow City Council awarded the construction contract to the lowest bidder Timberwolf Excavating on June 16, at a total cost of $1,646,499.
Construction on the wall should be completed in Jan. 2021, barring delays due to weather or unforeseen events.
Once construction is finalized, the City’s Streets and Stormwater Department will reconstruct the damaged roadway and reopen Hillside Drive as soon as possible.
