TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Cherokee Nation hosts several events in the month of February, including food demonstrations, a story corner, and craft demonstrations.
February 7
Corn husk doll class held 5:30-8 p.m. at the Cherokee Nation Three Rivers Health Center, 1001 S. 41st St. East, in Muskogee. Learn how to make your own corn husk doll. Cost is $10 per person and $7 for children 12 and under. For more information, call 918-781-6435.
February 8
Artist demonstration will be held at the Cherokee National History Museum in Tahlequah. Cherokee National Treasure Jane Osti will demonstrate how she makes traditional Cherokee pottery and will have some available for sale. For more information, go to www.visitcherokeenation.com.

Living Story Corner at the Cherokee National History Museum in Tahlequah, with Cherokee Nation citizen Candice Byrd, beginning at 11 a.m. This family-friendly event features traditional and historical Cherokee love stories called “Cherokee Hearts.” This event is free and open to the public. Lunch and Learn Lecture Series will feature Kim Teehee, Cherokee Nation delegate to Congress, from 12-1 p.m. at the Osiyo Training Room at 17725 S. Sequoyah Speech/Drama/Debate team will host an OSSAA-sanctioned tournament beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Acting and public speaking events begin Saturday, Feb. 29. Traditional foods demonstration: Learn how bean bread will be prepared and cooked the traditional way, wrapped in hickory leaves. The presentation is free and open to the public from 10 am. to noon at the Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization Building, 603 N. Main in Muldrow.
