Five years ago this home was just a dream, but today it’s a reality. Founded as a 501c(3) in 2013, Flourish homes incorporated and began planning. By a series of divine connections, Flourish Homes agreed to take over a program that was set to shut down on September 30, 2019. Five people are currently living in the home, including two residents. “We couldn’t see it close, and knew it was up to us to take over,” said Board member Peter Maddux.
There are 144 kids likely to age out of foster care over the next four years in Tulsa and Wagoner county. Without the proper supports these youth can easily become homeless. Many would become a statistic. Statistically, 1/3 of teens on the street will be lured toward prostitution within 48 hours of leaving their home (US Department of Justice).
“Young adults still need caring adults to help them navigate adulthood,” said founder and CEO Beth Reinwald.
Flourish Homes empowers young women ages of 18-25, who are vulnerable to wrong relationships, human trafficking, and homelessness. The home provides shelter, caring mentors, family-style meals, education, life-skills, and bible study.
Flourish Homes is actively seeking donations and sponsors for their upcoming event and ongoing transitional housing program to help vulnerable young ladies. Donations are welcome online at www.flourishhomes.org
