Every year, more and more people are learning what the Oklahoma Wildlife Expo is all about, by visiting the event and having a lot of fun doing so!
But for anyone who might not know what the Expo is all about, there are some great resources for getting “in the know” before you go. Just log on to www.wildlifedepartment.com/ expo to learn all about it!
The Wildlife Expo promotes appreciation for Oklahoma’s wildlife and natural resources, and provides hands-on learning opportunities for all types of outdoor enthusiasts. And everyone is welcome at this family-friendly event.
“In short, the Expo is a celebration of everything outdoors in the state of Oklahoma,” said Rhonda Hurst, Wildlife Expo coordinator for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. “We want you to leave the Expo with a new appreciation for wildlife and the activities of hunting, fishing and wildlife watching.”
The 14th Expo will be held this weekend at the Lazy E Arena southeast of Guthrie. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Expo will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to host School Day for youngsters from across the state.
Admission, parking and all activities are free.
Visitors will find more than 120 attractions both outside and inside the arena. Activities range from free shotgun and archery shooting to fishing, rock climbing, ATV riding, mountain biking and much more. Additionally, numerous learning opportunities are found at booths and exhibits. Visitors can speak with wildlife biologists and outdoorsmen experienced in fishing, hunting, game calling, wildlife and fisheries management, reptiles and amphibians, and more. And there will be seminars on dog training, venomous snakes, Dutch oven cooking, fish cleaning and fly fishing, among other topics.
As Oklahoma’s largest outdoor recreation event, the Expo has become a favorite free fall outing for thousands of families.
